News & Activities

2026 – 2027

Prof. Dr. Ronny Seiger started as a new professor of Software Architecture at the Faculty of Computer Science at RWTH Aachen in April 2026.

We had a very interesting guided tour through the construction site of the Smart Mobility Lab of TU Dresden in May 2026. Thanks for the invitation and organization to Prof. Uwe Aßmann. We are looking forward to future robotics collaborations.

We have presented and discussed a paper on "Granularity Patterns for Programming Cyber-physical Systems with Business Processes" at the writers workshop of EuroPLoP 2026. It was a blast! Stay tuned for the results of the very interesting focus group on "How Does AI Influence the Role of Software Architects?" organized by Uwe van Heesch, Olaf Zimmermann, Stefan Bente and Christian Kohls.

We had some nice discussions and events, including a great tour through the Liebesbier brewery, at the Internet of Processes and Things workshop 2026 at the University of Bayreuth. Thanks for the organization to Prof. Agnes Koschmider and her team.

We will present a paper on "Autonomous Mobile Robots with Business Process Management Systems at the Edge" at the main track of ECSA 2026 and a paper on "AI Assistance for Architectural Decision Making: Domain-Driven Context and Prompt Engineering" at the IDEA-ARCH workshop co-located with ECSA 2026.

The SWA group is co-organizing the BP-Meet-IoT 2026 workshop co-located with CBI/EDOC 2026. We will present and discuss a paper on "Emergence in IoT-Enhanced Business Processes: Challenges and Future Directions" at the workshop and give a talk on "A Domain-specific Language and Architecture for Detecting Process Activities from Sensor Streams in IoT" at the Journal First track of EDOC.

The group is organizing the EMISA 2027 workshop in Aachen. Sharpen your pencils and get that paper writing going!
